This website should work for everyone who visits it: with a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom, light or dark mode, and on a small phone.

Where we stand
On we reviewed every page of this website against all 55 success criteria at levels A and AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2. We fixed what we found, and we know of no page that fails one of them today.
This is our own assessment, made with the tools and the steps below. It is not an independent audit. If something does not work for you, it counts, whatever our checks say.
Conformance claim
- Standard: Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2, https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG22/.
- Level: AA, self assessed.
- Pages: every page under https://releaseworthy.app, listed on the site map. No subdomains.
- Date: .
- Technologies relied upon: HTML, CSS, SVG, ARIA attributes and JavaScript. Without JavaScript the pages still read and work, except that the price calculator shows a table of worked examples instead.
What we checked, and how
- axe, an automated accessibility engine, on every page in light and dark mode, for the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 rules at levels A and AA, target size included.
- Text contrast measured pixel by pixel wherever text sits over the background glows and patterns, which axe cannot judge: light and dark mode, on a wide screen and 320 pixels wide.
- The keyboard: every page tabbed through forwards and backwards, wide and 320 pixels wide. Each element that takes focus has to show a focus ring with at least 3:1 contrast, and must not be hidden under the sticky header or the open menu.
- Reflow at 320 pixels wide, the same as 400% zoom: nothing scrolls sideways.
- Text spacing: line, letter, word and paragraph spacing raised to the values in WCAG, with no text cut off.
- The same navigation and the same help links (contact page, email address, security and accessibility) in the same order on every page, and a site map with every page.
- A review by hand of what tools cannot judge: text alternatives, headings and labels, link text, reading order, the error message of the price calculator, and what happens on hover, focus and input.
The automated checks are part of the website's test suite, which we run before each release of the site, so a regression is caught before it goes live.
What this review fixed
- Contrast: in light mode the green labels and breadcrumb links at the top of most pages dropped to 3.6:1 over the background glow on a narrow screen. They now use a darker green.
- Focus: on a narrow screen, with the menu open, the Tab key moved focus to a link hidden under the menu. The menu now closes when focus leaves it, and the Escape key closes it too.
- Reflow: an example card on How it works made the page scroll sideways at 320 pixels.
- Form field: the border of the price calculator's input had 2.4:1 contrast in light mode. It now has 6.8:1.
- Text spacing: long post titles in the breadcrumb trail were cut off with an ellipsis. They now wrap, and the site name in the header can wrap on a very narrow screen.
- Multiple ways: some pages could be reached only from the footer. The site map now lists every page.
What we know is not perfect
- The Slack style conversations on the home page are images. Each one has a text description of the conversation it shows, and the page labels them as illustrations.
- The links to Gmail and Outlook on the contact page open those services, which we do not control.
- We test in Chromium, the engine of Chrome and Edge. We have not yet tested with screen readers, or in Firefox and Safari.
